Frequently asked questions

What are the system requirements?
Daily News requires macOS 13 Ventura or later. It is fully compatible with both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The app is available on the App Store and does not require a named account; an anonymous identity is created automatically.
Where does the news come from? Is it reliable?
Content is aggregated from The GDELT Project, scanning over 11,750 publishers worldwide, processing ~390,000 articles daily in 124 languages. Similar coverage is clustered so the panel can show how many independent sources reported the same development, with original links. That count is not a fact-check.
How do you protect my data?
No name, email, or contact info is requested. An anonymous account stores preferences, saved articles, and subscription status. Usage analytics are on by default and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy. Data is never used for advertising or profiling. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How does the panel open and close?
Simply hover over the ticker, and the panel opens instantly, closing when you move away. You can click to pin it, or close it entirely with the Esc key (customizable).
How does the free trial work?
A 14-day free trial begins on your first activation. No credit card is required, no payment is authorized, and you won't be automatically charged when it ends. The trial is limited to once per device.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed securely through the App Store. You can cancel anytime from App Store > Account > Settings > Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to avoid being charged for the next period.
Does it work offline?
A connection is required for live updates, but the app features offline caching so you can read your latest news and saved articles without connectivity. The stream automatically refreshes when you're back online.
